The house rules
Someone asks “where should we eat?”, forty minutes evaporate, and everyone ends up at the same place as last week. Forkd asks each person for thirty seconds of honesty (mood, budget, spice ceiling, cravings, private vetoes) and returns one confident call with reasons everyone can live with. No feeds, no forty open tabs, no negotiation.
01
Decide, don't overwhelm.
The world has enough restaurant lists. It needs answers.
02
The real world is the outcome.
A successful Forkd session ends with people eating, together.
03
Private vetoes are civilization.
You should be able to say no to sushi without a hearing.
04
Taste data belongs to the eater.
Your profile makes your food life better, and you can delete it any time.
Today Forkd settles group dinners. Next: taste profiles that follow you, food chemistry with friends, a map of every spot you've saved, and the friends who want to go too. The long-term ambition is a genuine food intelligence layer: Forkd understanding what you like, what you have, and who you're with, then making the food part of life effortless.

Questions, answered
No. Joining a decision is a link: tap it, answer the check-in, done. Only the things that need to persist (like a saved taste profile on future mobile apps) will ever need an account.
A structured engine, not a magic 8-ball. Allergies, diets, and vetoes are hard filters that are never relaxed. Surviving dishes are scored per person on cravings, mood, spice ceiling, budget, adventure appetite, and what you've eaten recently, then combined so that nobody at the table has a bad night, not just a high average.
No. Vetoes are stored server-side, used as filters, and never shown to the group. The result may say 'it dodges every veto in the group' without saying whose.
Forkd decides what to eat, the dish and cuisine that fits your table, then shows live nearby spots that serve it. We'd rather link you to live, current restaurant data than maintain a stale database and send you to a closed kitchen.
Forkd never suggests a dish whose classic preparation contains an allergen you've listed. But kitchens vary. Always confirm directly with the restaurant. Forkd can't guarantee any prepared food is allergen-free.
The decision tool is free. Down the road we may add premium features (deeper personalization, travel mode, group tools). Recommendations will never be pay-for-placement without clear labeling.
The decision engine is deterministic, transparent scoring: the same inputs give the same answer, and every result explains itself. We use that over a language model on purpose: your dinner shouldn't hallucinate.
Solo mode data lives only in your browser. Clear site data and it's gone. Group sessions expire from our storage; to force-delete one sooner, email us the link and we'll remove it.
